One question I get a lot is "how soon can I make money in a home based franchise?"

The answer is, that with most franchises you should count on six months to one year with little or no income. But nobody wants to believe that. It is probably true anyway. I like reality because it is more comfortable in the long run than fantasy.

I run a home based business and I have a lot of little expenses that continue month after month regardless of whether I make money or not. And when I do make money, it tends to be a lot of money but at irregular intervals. So I have to be prepared to go some months with no income and then when I do get paid, that money will go into my bank account to build reserves for another period where I might have to not make money or invest money, even.

That is how it has always been for me. I would never purchase a home based franchise expecting to make money even in six months. Sorry but that is reality.
