Home based franchise businesses
Let's continue exploring home based franchise businesses.
Next on our list, there are equipment leasing deals. If you do equipment leasing, you find companies that need to purchase equipment and you match them up with leasing companies who are in the business of leasing. Lots of leasing companies are set up to fund leases and underwrite them and even deal with the used equipment. But they depend upon brokers to find the deals. As a broker, you get a percentage of the deal, sometimes 1 to 5 percentage points of the deal.
I've known people who were very successful in this business so I wouldn't say you can't make it. I like this business for the right person.
And here's another. You help companies in factoring and accounts receivable. Basically, you find companies that need money, and you find a lender who will lend them money against their receivables. One way or another, whether through a loan or outright purchasing the receivables, there are lenders out there who will work with small businesses this way. Your job is to find the business.
Neither leasing nor receivables financing requires you to have any money. You are essentially a salesperson.
I would think about these businesses if I was a mortgage broker looking to get into something else. I do like another business, though, that of litigation financing. It is less competitive than equipment leasing. It has a lot of potential and among all home based franchise businesses, it is little known and therefore a bigger opportunity for those who are in early.
