Hey you attorneys and paralegals who are tired of the profession…
This post is for all you lawyers who are tired of practicing law. And you paralegals, legal secretaries and assorted legal types who have a background in law but just don't like the practice of law anymore.
I know a ton of attorneys and they often don't like their work. Why? Too much conflict. No gratitude. Always constant pressure and deadlines. And a legal system that is just so broken you don't know where to start to fix it.
That's why I recommend you consider a change. But one that is in a field you are familiar with. Consider a legal franchise of some kind. Or start a legal business that is not connected with your past profession exactly but is somewhat related.
I have a friend who became a recruiter. She recruited lawyers for firms. Now she works full time for a drug company doing in house recruiting and she loves it. She was a partner in a major firm but just ended up despising the practice of law.
I know another attorney who would give anything to quit his law practice and get into something else. I was telling him about litigation funding and he is very interested. The home based franchise that I'm working on may or may not gel, but you can still start to investigate this business. You may be ideally suited for it. In fact if you know a few personal injury lawyers you will be on your way because they will refer you business.
They like you because you help their clients pay living expenses until the case is settled. You take the pressure off them because their clients aren't so desperate. And you don't need a lot of money to pursue this business because there are plenty of investors who would love to put up the money in return for a share of the profits.
Consider a lawsuit funding franchise if you are interested. Check out the financial services franchise blog on the subject.
