Pre settlement funding

I want to talk about the presettlement funding business a little more. Pre settlement funding is where you advance money to people who are in a lawsuit and expect to win.

The idea case is where you give someone some money and they are about to settle. Then of course your money isn't out for very long, and they settle and you get paid.

Oh, did I mention getting paid? You get paid when the case is settled. Most cases should settle before trial. A few go to trial but not many. And the lawyer who is representing the plaintiff, the victim, gets the money first and pays you off. So you are pretty sure of getting paid so long as the case settles.

Presettlement fundinginvolves your advancing people cash, when they need it the most. They are grateful for the money. So you are doing business with people who are glad you are there. And it lets them do a crucial thing. It lets someone with a $100,000 case avoid having to settle for $50,000 simply because her $800 rent check is due and she has nowhere to turn.

Every lawyer who does this type of law will tell you stories about clients who are desperate to settle quickly in order to pay immediate bills. Many people involved in litigation are injured physically and often mentally.

Someone is hit by a drunk driver, and they are recovering with broken limbs and internal injuries.

Or someone is working on a construction site and they injured by a faulty piece of equipment.

Or someone gets laser eye surgury and they become almost blind.

Or a careless employee leaves grease on the supermarket aisle floor.

I could go on and on. The victim is not someone who suffers from a too-hot cup of coffee at McDonalds. That is what makes it in the media. But in real life, these people are absolutely deserving in many cases and should win a recovery from the person who made the bad product, or who got drunk and went driving.

Presettlement funding involves giving these folks a lifeline. Without the money they face financial ruin. Eviction. They may lose their car and their job. They need you.

That's why we need more presettlement financing folks to get into this business.
